Getting a new dog is so exciting, trust me, I know. I think it's important to keep in mind that everything you do in front of your dog or with your dog will have a high effect on them. They are their own individual beings, but you don't necessarily want to let them know of this. Why? You may ask.
You see, a dog that grows up in a free environment is most likely to not want to listen to you because they are aware that they are the boss of themselves. This is why it is so important to take control and reel them back. The way I see it, it's easier to give freedom than take it back.
Do you see what I'm getting at here?
It's important that your canine friend knows that you are the leader of the pack. Not equals. If there is a strong alpha foundation, trust will come in just as easy. Being able to roam free in the house is a privilege, so is everything else. You are responsible of knowing when they are behaving well and most importantly you're responsible of rewarding that behavior. That way the training is easier on you and faster for them.
